Route of the flowers (Ruta de Las Flores), El Salvador
Sonsonate, El Salvador – 2008. On a weekend break in the middle of our two week build project for Habitat Global Village in Sonsonate, El Salvador we visited a number of small towns in the area on a tour generally known as the Route of the Flowers (Ruta de Las Flores). It is a winding route of about 20 miles (32 km) through brightly colored colonial towns and coffee plantations. The name “Ruta de Las Flores” comes from the many wildflowers growing along the road. We visited the towns of Nahuizalco, Salcoatitán, Juayúa and Ataco.
